Trustee
Liz Whisnant has spent twenty years as a teacher, administrator and book-lender in public and independent
schools in Boston, MA; Washington, DC; and Charlotte, NC. In Charlotte, she served as the founding Academic
Dean of a center-city K-8 school.
Prior to that, she spent a decade as an elementary administrator in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School district.
She has recently moved to Seattle, WA where she serves as a consultant for the University of Washington’s Center
for Educational Leadership. She has extensive experience working with working with school improvement initiatives,
Title I services and curriculum development.

Liz received her A.B. from Harvard University and an M.Ed from Lesley University. Unable to resist a good book – professional or personal – she has been known in each school building as the person with the “best bookshelf” from which to borrow and an administrator who hasn’t lost her teaching heart. She is also Hugh Calkins daughter.
